If you are staying in the summertime many restaurants offer a feast of lobsters for reasonable prices. That's a good choice. Not to mention the famous Icelandic lamb that roams the wild nature of Iceland for most parts of it’s life and is second to none when cooked by an master chef in Iceland. The food served in the homes of Iceland and the countries restaurants is excellent. Specially when created from fresh fish and the unique mountain lamb of Iceland. How pricy are restaurants in Reykjavik? The currency for Iceland is the Icelandic Krona (ISK), and the exchange changes. Iceland is not known for being cheap, but on the other hand restaurants in Reykjavik and around Iceland are known for good food, great wine selection and high class services. As for restaurant prices, you might find them expensive.
Average night out, might cost you upto 10.000 ISK (About 85 pounds - 15.12.2005) if you order some wine and/or beer with your dinner. A good steak with a bottle of red wine is about 7500 ISK. The steak is about 3200 to 4000 ISK and the bottle of a low priced red wine at a restaurant about 2500 to 4000 ISK. For more information contact your prefered restaurant directly. Fish dishes and pasta are cheaper but that depends on the restaurant.
For those liking fast food you can find Burger King, MacDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Subway to mention few. For the fine dining range of fast food there is Amercian Style, Friday's and Ruby Tuesday, Hard Rock just closed their restaurant in Iceland but will hopefully open again.
