Nightlife
The wild and untamed nightlife of Iceland, especially in Reykjavík is known world wide and famous for it's durability and ongoing parties. In Iceland nightlife means fun and entertainment, dance clubs, bars, parties, festivals, shows, restaurants, live music bands to mention but few and if the idea is to go out and have good old-fashioned fun Iceland is still a fine choice.
The nightlife in Reykjavik
The nightlife in Reykjavík is legendary for its energy and stamina. It is not uncommon on the weekend to spend the whole night partying at one of the city's many nightclubs, known for their cool atmosphere and stylish patrons and then walk out to the streets to a carnival like atmosphere of the streets .In Reykjavik there are nightclubs to suit a variety of tastes in terms of decor and music. Clubs and pubs
The distinction between bars, clubs, pubs, cafés and dance halls is pretty blurry in Reykjavík. But that's then fun part, you can get everything from one stroll around town, and experience all extremes of a typical metropolitical nightlife in one of the smallest capitals in te world. Nightclubs, bars and pubs in Reykjavik are generally open quite late, til three to five in the morning, and it's not uncommon to spend all night on the town on Friday and Saturday nights. So Viva La Reykjavik or as tje locals say it "Skal, goda skemmtun". About the Icelandic drinking habits, well people say that the beer tastes so great in Iceland because the water is so clean, even Heineken and that one is from Holland. While that may be a bit of the infamous Icelandic bravado talking, it is certainly an undeniable fact that the Icelandic beer really is superb and well worth drinking and there are many kinds to choose from, the famous Viking Beer, Thule, Pilsner, Gull and Silfur to mention few. But mixture of beer and shots like Tequila or Sambucca are in favor and to top that the party thirsty Icelander mixes that with dass of rum or the Icelandic Brennivin.
Live Music
Reykjavik has a very happening music scene and it goes far beyond what you might have heard about Björk and Sigur Rós. The scene is made up of a large number of genres with everything from hardcore punk rock and indie to chamber music and hip-hop. You can practically take in a concert every night of the week and to prove it, we have compiled an events calendar that lists what is happening in terms of live performance throughout the year. As soon as we know about it, you’ll find it the events calendar. ![]() Reykjavik, Iceland Visitors Guide. Includes Maps and Discount coupons for Reykjavik & Hafnarfjordur. 9 MB - PDF Document.
